When WebClient service access WebDAV with https via UNC,  Does its communication use SSL encryption?
I don't know the movement of the WebClient Service when I connect WebDAV connection with https from "Computer" window. The server OS is Windows Server 2003, The client OS is Windows 7 Enterprise. The following is its contents. Configuration conflicts on the client side when the client connects to the WebDAV with https via WebClient service. Despite the WebClient service supports the https protocol, I have to change regestry value to communicate in non-SSL (modify "HKLM \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ WebClient \ Parameters \ BasicAuthLevel from 1 to 2). to make the connection with the UNC(Universal Naming Convention) at Basic authentication from "Computer" window. I Modified the registry value and I have connected to the WebDAV. However, when I connect to the WebDAV at UNC, the question remains: When I consider the contents of the above, the communication is really encrypted with SSL? The question is below. You probably have managed to bump into the fact that Server 2003 (and XP) use a different security model then Server 2008 (vista) and up. you might want to upgrade your server as its now in extended support Windows MVP 2011-12, XP, Vista, 7. Expanding into Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server, SharePoint, Cloud, Virtualization etc. etc. Hardcore Games, Legendary is the only Way to Play Developer | Windows IT | Chess | Economics | Vegan Advocate | PC Reviews
